Radio 104.5 kicked off the first of their free Summer Block Parties of 2013 at The Piazza at Schmidt’s in Northern Liberties (Philadelphia) on 5/4. Performers included Atlas Genius and Family of the Year, with the fellas from Jackon Kingsley (currently based in the ‘burbs of Central Jersey) starting things off.
Atlas Genius recently released their debut LP When It Was Now (listen on Spotify), which features the massively popular “Trojans” (watch the official music video below). See all of their upcoming tour dates here. Family of the Year’s 2012 sophomore release Loma Vista is finally getting the traction it deserves, with help from songs like “Hero” (which is even getting play on Top 40 stations); however, their album isn’t just all introspective acoustic ballads (listen on Spotify). Proof of that was apparent during their rousing set, which even spurred some friendly crowd surfing (see photos). See all of Family of the Year’s upcoming tour dates here.
